I soo badly want to buy from them and support them to get a great foothold in our country, but unfortunately right now they have none of the products I order in their very limited product offerings. We need you to stock The Ordinary skincare products, Skin Functional skincare products, maybe some interesting Korean essences and products, Clarins foundations.. Also, I really so badly want some good competitive computer parts and prices that we do not normally have access to in South Africa.

There are huge gaps in the South African market that can completely be taken by Amazon. Female shoes that include larger sizes for women is something we have to order from your overseas base and only Woolworths locally stock it and theirs get sold out very quickly.

We need a big selection of a variety of products that is available overseas but that are not currently available over here.. That is where Takealot or anyone else cannot compete. That is where you need to focus. Not to flood your local site with things we are used to and already have available everywhere locally. You need to identify the needs we have that we currently cannot source locally and target those areas..

Amazon has an even better financial standing, #GameOn Takealot is filled with drop shipping companies and that will take them down. Incorrect orders, support staff has no idea of what you talking about in most cases and different prices for same product. On Takealot you find a temporary tattoo sold by a local hero TeMaRo for R99 with same day collection and free shipping in 3 days. The same temporary tattoo on Takealot is R599 imagine how ridiculous these markets are because they don't control the merchants as they claim

So clearly this article was written to promote Takealot because the moment you throw the truth out there they remove your comment just like the reviews on Takealot. Ok so let's see if Takealot and Techcentral is brave enough to leave this comment on here. There is two icebergs heading Takealot's way. One called Temu and one called Amazon. But keep dreaming that Takealot will win this.

Product availability is completely different.

In the US and UK, you can easily import goods from Japanese storefronts at no extra cost and visa versa.
South African Amazon doesn't have a scratch of what's available on the global market which renders it quite useless.
I will keep using Amazon US.
5 day shipping from Japanese amazon to New York City is fantastic.
Was hoping to experience this in Cape Town on my vacations.

If you live in South Africa you can definitely keep using Takealot. Prices and product availability are much better at the moment. We can talk about Amazon after 2 years.
Very disappointed in the South African launch.

i don't know the overall logistics features of Takelot, but have recently had very bad experiences with their deliveries. Yet my complaints were accepted but ultimately ignored. How will Amazon behave in similar cases?

I love all these "Amazon didn't live up to the hype" articles. Amazon didn't even attempt to create a hype, all you talking heads created a hype. Amazon is following the same playbook they've followed before, so let your guard down if you want.
